Subject: News from the North
Go northward from Toronto and you’ll find
along the shores of Parry Sound or near
a place where one whose feelings are still kind
dwells in peace and thinks of friends once dear.
It seems that Bill has been in touch with those
who run the church from which he was expelled
for loving in a way he never chose
but by his body still he was compelled.
They’ve asked if he can put them now in touch
with that strange fellow who once wrote those poems:
it seems that after all they still think much
of one whose work might help the poorer homes.
He’s passed their message on and done his bit
Not I must turn this pitch into a hit.
