Date: Wednesday, July 1st
I really hope we’ll get the chance to meet
at some of the festivities Sam’s planned
without a storm or lightning to defeat
what pleasure we might take in summer’s grand
beginning, for although we met upon
Midsummer’s Night the weather had not yet
achieved this balmy blue and breezy dawn:
the days held winter cold and autumn wet.
But now that summer true and full is here
I hope you’ll share a beer and watch the skies
with us as fireworks burst high and clear
above the gathered throngs who watch them rise.
A festival of pleasure it will be
and all the more if you are there with me.
