Subject: Confusion
I have to say I share in your confusion
regarding where we stand and what you want
although I’ve never suffered from delusions
that my love is something you will flaunt.
If we must stay a hidden secret couple
then that’s a cross I’ll bear for some short time
until my faint integrity and scruple
makes known its price for living such a crime:
for I wish our love to be no secret
no shameful thing to hide from public view
but open for the gossips to interpret
for nothing they can say will make it true.
If I have won your love then speak it loud
Don’t be afraid of some small-minded crowd.
