Subject: Remember Two Groups of Men Killing Each Other
This is the day of dear beloved Saint Pat
whose followers and partisans proclaim
they merely wish to live free of the rat,
the foreign ruler who bears all the blame
for Troubles far and wide across the years:
a shooting here, a murder there, so what
if they themselves were spreading half the fears
by shooting enemies in knees and gut?
Or was that the other side? It’s hard to tell
when all the evil acts look much alike
to one who isn’t buying what they sell
nor ready to for freedom hit and strike.
Upon this day let’s recollect the dead
That dear St Pat has feasted on and fled.
