Subject: With or Without You
Just for this weekend I must soft withdraw
from your most precious, valued company
as I must spin this golden work from straw
to overcome the stolid villainy
that’s put me in this place of desperation
ramming one year’s work into a week
but I dream of their great consternation
when I avoid the failure that they seek.
For even though my seminar will limp
it will be good enough to get me by,
meantime I must just beg and sometimes scrimp
to save the time I’d rather have you nigh.
But soon enough my time will be so free
That I’ll not spend a moment far from thee.
