Poetry is speech that has a rhythmical structure that dominates the grammatical structure. As such, written poetry is at best second best. I encourage people to read any poems they encounter aloud, and in that spirit I’ve put together MP3′s of these sonnets in one-week blocks. Each file plays for four minutes or so, about 45 seconds per poem.
I’m still working out the vagaries of audio recording and editing, so please forgive me if some bits are charmingly unpolished. I’m also only just getting a feeling for Will’s voice, and that might change a lot over the next few weeks or months. We’ll see. In the meantime, enjoy!
As of Week 17 I’m starting to get vaguely happy with the technical quality of the audio, although I still need more work on my voice!
The Sonneteer, Week 28 (a new record for haste and lack of care!)
The Sonneteer, Week 29 (as ever)
The Sonneteer, Week 30 (likewise)
The Sonneteer, Week 31 (why change an established tradition?)
